Fungal Infections: Causes and Symptoms
Tinea is a very common fungal infection of the skin. It is often called “ringworm” because the rash has a circular, ring-like appearance. There is no connection between ringworm and worms.
There are several types of Tinea or Ringworm. Athlete’s Foot is a common form of Tinea known as Tinea Pedis. Another form of Tinea is Tinea Cruris, better known as Jock Itch. Tinea Corporis or Ringworm of the Body (or Ringworm, for short) and Tinea Manus or Tinea of the hand are another form of Tinea.
Common symptoms are:
scaling, cracking, and/or flaking of the skin
an itchy, red rash with a ring-like appearance
The majority of Tinea related fungal infections may be treated with over-the-counter topical antifungal cream or sprays.
Conazol, a maximum strength antifungal has been clinically proven to be effective in the treatment of most Tinea cases.
